Editor-in-Chief, ZEIT ONLINE, Germany

Wolfgang Blau is Editor-in-Chief of ZEIT ONLINE, the sister publication of Die Zeit. Zeit Online runs its own newsroom in Berlin and employs about 50 full-time online-editors.

From 1999 to 2007, Wolfgang worked in Silicon Valley, in San Francisco and Washington D.C. as a freelance reporter for Germany's broadcaster ZDF, the German newspaper Die Welt and the radio news syndicator BLR-Radiodienst. During his time in the US, he initiated the founding of Audible.de, which is now part of Amazon Inc.

In the three years since Wolfgang joined Zeit Online as Editor-in-Chief in March 2008, Zeit Online has been rebuilt from the ground up and its unique visitors have grown by more than 270 percent. The paper developed the world’s first  fully tablet-optimized news-site in html5.
